Empowering communities, building peace, and inspiring hope
Bincike is Hausa for inquiry. It is also the method. We research first, then act on what the evidence shows.
Bincike International is a non-governmental development, humanitarian and social enterprise organisation dedicated to harnessing research and development to cultivate peace, promote health and security awareness, and drive social development through community-led initiatives.
We work across communities to empower young people, support vulnerable populations and create safer environments, through awareness campaigns, capacity building and humanitarian outreach. The aim is a society in which people live with dignity, resilience and opportunity.

The causes we care about
Thirteen areas of work, one method
Each area begins with evidence, in what a community reports and what the data shows, and ends with something a household can measure.
Protection and social reintegration
Protecting people exposed to conflict, displacement and exploitation, and supporting their reintegration into community life through sustainable protective mechanisms.
Gender equality and social inclusion
Making sure programmes reach the people most often left out, including women, young people, people with disabilities and displaced households, and that they shape the work rather than receive it.
Peacebuilding and social cohesion
Building safe, resilient communities through conflict mediation and prevention, and by strengthening the cohesion that holds groups together under pressure.
Advocacy and policy influencing
Carrying community-level evidence into the rooms where policy and financing are decided, at state, national and regional level.
Monitoring, evaluation, research and learning
Rigorous inquiry that generates the data, insights and scalable innovations informing effective development strategy, and that says plainly when something did not work.
Public health
Health equity and well-being: strengthening health systems, combating infectious disease, and securing community access to essential services and health education.

Protecting biodiversity by combating illegal wildlife trade through enforcement capacity building, community engagement and conservation that preserves ecosystems.
Combating illegal mining
Tackling unlicensed and unsafe extraction by supporting enforcement, restoring damaged land, and opening safer livelihoods for the communities drawn into it.
Education
Improving access to quality education, with initiatives focused on teacher training, curriculum development and skills enhancement for lifelong learning.
Promotion of mineral resources investment and trade
Opening the formal minerals sector to responsible investment and legitimate trade, so that value from extraction reaches the communities the resource sits under.

Smart gardening at Sabon Gari
One project, fully documented. The standard for everything that follows.
A smart gardening farm established with women's groups in Mubi North, producing cucumber, maize and vegetables on plots designed for efficient water use. The programme paired planting inputs with training in climate-smart technique, and closed with harvest going to household nutrition and local market sale.

Public healthStrengthening immunisation for a healthier West Africa
Our international public health consultants joined the High-Level Regional Forum on Immunisation in West Africa, co-hosted by Africa CDC, the Government of Senegal and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.
