Who we are

Bincike is Hausa for inquiry. It is also the method. We research first, then act on what the evidence shows.

Bincike International is a humanitarian and development private sector organisation committed to improving the lives of Nigerians through sustainable development initiatives. With community empowerment as its focus, the organisation designs and implements innovative programmes addressing pressing social, economic and environmental challenges.

We are dedicated to harnessing research and development to cultivate peace, promote health and security awareness, and drive social development through community-led initiatives. Our method is to leverage technology and collaborate with local stakeholders in order to drive lasting positive change.

We work across communities to empower young people, support vulnerable populations and create safer environments, through awareness campaigns, capacity building and humanitarian outreach. The aim is a society in which people live with dignity, resilience and opportunity.

What guides us

Mission, vision and goal

Three statements that decide what we take on, and what we turn down.

Mission

To innovate, collaborate and act with compassion, integrity and sustainability.

Vision

Empowering communities, preserving the environment and providing humanitarian aid for a brighter future.

Goal

To bridge divides, amplify community voices and deliver practical, lasting solutions to social and environmental challenges through inclusive partnerships and locally-driven initiatives, strengthening systems and accelerating progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals.

How we work

Four commitments we can be held to

  • Compassion

The people a programme is designed for are the people who decide whether it worked. We start from what they report, not from what is easiest to deliver.

  • Integrity

We publish what we can stand behind. A figure we have not verified does not go on a page, and a result that disappointed us is still a result.

  • Innovation

Research, technology and method applied where they change an outcome, not where they make a proposal read better.

  • Sustainability

A programme is sized to what a community can maintain after the funding ends. Anything else is a handover that never happens.

Working on something we should be part of?

We take on programme design, field research and delivery with institutions, funders and government.
