Bincike International's international public health consultants attended the High-Level Regional Forum on Immunisation in West Africa, co-hosted by Africa CDC, the Government of Senegal, and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.
The forum ran under the theme “Strengthening Immunisation for a Healthier West Africa”, with leaders and partners reaffirming a commitment to accelerating progress toward health equity and resilience across the region.
Key discussion points
- Reaching every child, including those zero-dose and under-immunised
- Expanding local vaccine production for regional health sovereignty
- Increasing domestic financing for sustainable immunisation programmes
- Recognising immunisation as a smart investment for health and development
Immunisation is a shared responsibility rather than a donation.
That closing emphasis is the one that carries furthest into our own work. A vaccine that exists regionally but does not reach a household in Adamawa has not yet done anything, and the distance between the two is where community-level organisations are asked to operate.
